WIWSA PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE March, 2017 As the members of our association know, our “bread & butter” has been in helping our members understand and comply with federal and state regulations governing the purveyance of safe drinking water.  We have employed the opportunities provided by our quarterly meetings to introduce our members to state regulators and to explain the details of subjects like Small Water System Management Plans, the Responsibilities of Water Boards and Developing Financial Capacity. The 2017 member meeting dates will be: Wednesday March 15th 5 PM to 7 PM Thursday June 15th 5 PM to 7 PM Wednesday September 20th 6 PM to 8 PM Wednesday December 6th 6 PM to 8 PM Please note that the first two meetings are at 5 pm, not 6, and that the June meeting is on a Thursday rather than a Wednesday. “WHAT’S THIS AWFUL STUFF IN MY WATER?  AND HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?”  I have gotten calls like this about once a month since we posted our WIWSA website with my telephone number on it. Just recently, I had the pleasure and opportunity to sit with three representatives of a local ground water system which had just added new residents to their community and were moving up from a Group B to a Group A water system.  You all know our WIWSA mantra about the smartest thing that a Group B can do is to behave like a Group A water system by observing the federal and state rules for the larger systems.  Those rules were put into place in order to protect communities from unsafe drinking water and unwise business practices.
