As discussed at tonight’s Member Meeting. Here is an excerpt from the call to action issued by Washington Water Utility Council. Screenshot of their announcement is below the excerpt and the referenced letter in PDF form is at the bottom of this post.
As you’ve likely heard, President Trump’s budget proposes huge cuts to the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DW SRF) and Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CW SRF) – essentially proposing eliminating the SRF program – as well as big cuts to the WIFIA program. We are seeking your support for a state-wide letter to the Washington Congressional delegation, asking our members of Congress to support ongoing for water infrastructure funding. That letter is linked here.
We are asking two things from you. First – sign on! To do this, please send an email to Alisa Jackson at Seattle Public Utilities alisa.jackson@seattle.gov with the title of the letter as the email subject: “SRF Funding – FY26 Budget and Approps Request” and 1) the name of the person signing on 2) the title of the person signing on and 3) the organization/utility name/firm of that person. Alisa will collect the signatures and add them to the letter. Second – please reach out to at least a couple private firms (construction, consultation, engineering) your utility or organization work with, share the letter, and ask them to sign on as well. We’d like to see a lot of public and private organizations on the letter. Please send your sign-on information no later than noon on Tuesday June 20th. The letter will be sent that afternoon.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the WWUC legislative chair/SPU Government Relations Director, Susan Saffery, at susan.saffery@seattle.gov. This is a very crucial issue, where we need to raise our collective voices about the critical need for ongoing Federal water infrastructure funding. Thank you for your attention and participation.
